S08 MICROCONTROLLERS — FREESCALE'S LATEST GENERATION WITH UP TO 40 MHZ CPU SPEED, FULL
ON-CHIP IN-CIRCUIT EMULATION (ICE), AND ON-CHIP BACKGROUND DEBUG MODE (BDM)
Freescale Semiconductor introduces the low power S08 family as a higher performance
extension to the successful HC08 family. Based on the enhanced S08 core, the new S08
families can deliver 2.5 times the performance of an 8 MHz HC08 with instruction set
compatibility, and also provides on-chip debug tools to allow faster development. The S08
family will deliver up to 40 MHz (clock) / 20 MHz (bus) at 2.7-5.5 V and up to 8 MHz (bus)
at 1.8-3 V while reducing power consumption by using its 2 low power modes. This family
provides significantly improved Electro Magnetic Compatibility (EMC) performance
compared to HC05/HC08/HC11 performance.

Low power Analog to Digital Controller (ADC) with on-chip temperature sensor and
Analog comparators
Up to two Serial Communication Interface (SCI) modules and an Inter-
Integrated Circuit (IIC) module
Background Debug Mode (BDM) support similar to successful HCS12
On-chip In-Circuit Emulation (ICE) provides free emulation and development support
