Sensor Products—Our focus is on new products that will continue to meet customers’ needs.
The accelerometer product offering continues to expand. Pressure sensor offerings continue
with automotive grade products and tire pressure monitoring.
Accelerometers—We use surface micromachining technology for a capacitive “sensing”
structure. A g-cell is coupled with a control chip for signal amplification, signal conditioning,
low-pass filter, and temperature compensation. The packaging choices have expanded to
include the Quad Flat No-Lead (QFN) Pb-free 6x6x1.45 mm package.
Proximity Sensors—Freescale's electric-field sensing ICs use low-level capacitance sensing
for occupant protection systems. These devices are ideal for smart airbag deployment based
on sensing the occupant's size and position in the vehicle.
Pressure Sensors—Our pressure sensors are silicon micromachined products with integrated
on-chip circuitry. These devices are ideal for a microprocessor interface and are designed to
perform in the automotive environment.
Applications—Freescale Semiconductor automotive sensors are designed for a variety of
applications ranging from safety and performance to comfort and control. Our sensors are
used in under-hood and in-cabin applications, and are compatible with the Freescale
Semiconductor Microcontroller Families.
